Terms of Service

Last updated 26 July 2026 · Order policy version 2026-06-24

PartDrop turns a photo you supply into a 3D-printed keepsake, designed by AI and printed and shipped by us in New Zealand. These terms apply when you use partdrop.co.nz. If you don't agree with them, please don't use the service.

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986. Where those Acts give you a right, they win over anything written here.

1. How PartDrop works, and what you're buying

There are two separate steps, and they are paid for separately:

  • Designing - you upload a photo and our AI generates a 3D model from it. This costs generation tokens (section 2). You can generate as many designs as you like and buy none of them.
  • Printing & shipping- if you like a design, you approve it and pay for the physical keepsake. That's a normal card payment, separate from tokens, and it's the only point at which you're buying an object.

Each keepsake is made to order from an AI-generated model. The model is an interpretation of your photo, not a measurement of it: expect some variation from the on-screen preview and from the subject itself. We show you the model before you pay for printing, so what you approve is what we make.

2. Generation tokens

  • Tokens pay for AI generation only. A design costs 25 tokens on the Classic model or 45 tokens on Detailed. You choose which before you generate, and the price is shown on the button.
  • New accounts start with 100 free tokens. After that you can buy packs (250 for $12, 750 for $30, 2000 for $65 NZD).
  • You're only charged for a usable model. If a generation fails, is cancelled, or we can't produce something printable, no tokens are deducted.
  • Tokens are not money, don't earn interest, and can't be exchanged for cash or transferred between accounts. They don't expire.
  • A pack you've bought but not used can be refunded on request. Tokens already spent on generations can't be refunded, because the generation has already been produced.

Buying tokens is not a commitment by us to produce any particular result, and does not buy a printed item. Section 5 covers when we may decline an order.

3. Prices, currency and tax

  • All prices are in New Zealand dollars.
  • The printing price you're shown depends on the size and shape of your model. It's calculated from the actual model you approved. Shipping is added at checkout and depends on where it's going.
  • PartDrop is not currently GST-registered, so no GST is charged. If that changes, GST will be shown separately at checkout.
  • An approved design is priced for 30 minutes. If you don't complete payment in that window the design expires and you'll need to regenerate it - the price is locked to that exact model.

4. Shipping and delivery

  • We ship within New Zealand only.Overseas addresses can't be entered at checkout.
  • You enter your delivery address on the payment page. Please check it - we ship to the address you give us, and we can't redirect a parcel once it's with the courier.
  • Everything is made to order, so dispatch time depends on the print queue and the size of your piece. We email you when your order ships, with tracking where the courier provides it.
  • Risk in the item passes to you on delivery.

5. Orders - we may decline or cancel

PartDrop reserves the right to decline or cancel any order at its discretion - including for technical infeasibility, intellectual-property concerns, or prohibited content. If an order is declined or cancelled after payment, you're fully refunded.

We may decline or cancel an order at our discretion, including for:

  • Technical infeasibility - it can't be printed reliably
  • Intellectual-property concerns - copyright, trademark, or a person's likeness
  • Prohibited or inappropriate content
  • Other reasons, at our discretion

You acknowledge this policy when you place an order, and we record which version of it you accepted.

6. Content policy - what you may upload

You may only submit photos and text you have the right to use. We screen submissions and will refuse anything that depicts sexual content involving minors, real-world functional weapons or exploit aids, targeted abuse or threats against a real person, or that infringes copyright, a trademark, or a person's likeness.

Photos of people:if your photo shows someone else, you confirm you have their permission to have a model made of them (or, for a child, that you're their parent or guardian). We may decline photos of identifiable people where that permission isn't clear.

7. Your content, and what we make from it

  • You keep ownership of your photo. You give us permission to store it and process it for the purpose of making your keepsake, and to keep the files associated with an order so we can reprint or support it.
  • The 3D model generated from your photo is licensed to you for personal, non-commercial use. We keep a copy to fulfil, reprint and support your order.
  • We won't use your photos or your keepsake in our marketing without asking you first.
  • Please don't resell items made through PartDrop as your own product line without talking to us first.

8. Refunds

  • Declined or cancelled after payment:you're fully refunded.
  • Failed generations:no tokens are charged, so there's nothing to refund.
  • Faulty, damaged or not as described:tell us and we'll put it right - repair, replacement or refund - as required by the Consumer Guarantees Act.
  • Change of mind:because each piece is made to order specifically for you, we can't offer change-of-mind refunds once printing has started. Get in touch quickly if you've made a mistake and we'll help if we can.
  • Dissatisfaction with a correctly produced item that matches the model you approved is not, by itself, refundable - though we'd still like to hear about it.

If you raise a chargeback on a token purchase, the tokens from that purchase are removed from your balance.

9. Your account

  • Sign-in is by emailed link - there's no password. Keep access to your email secure; anyone who can read it can sign in as you.
  • You can delete your account at any time. Deleting it removes your personal information as described in our Privacy Policy. We keep the minimum record of completed orders we need for tax and accounting.
  • We may suspend an account that abuses the service - for example, repeatedly submitting prohibited content, or automating the free-token grant.

10. Privacy

How we collect, use, share, retain and delete your information is set out in our Privacy Policy, under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. In short: we don't sell your information, we strip location data from photos on upload, and you can delete your account and data.

11. Liability

The AI-generated model is provided as-is: we don't warrant an exact likeness, and small imperfections are part of 3D printing. Where the law allows us to limit liability, our total liability for any order is limited to what you paid for that order.

If you're buying as a business rather than as a consumer, the Consumer Guarantees Act doesn't apply to that purchase.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service changes. The version in force for your order is the one you accepted when you placed it, and we record that version against the order. Material changes are reflected in the “last updated” date above.

13. Contact

PartDrop is operated from Tauranga, New Zealand, and these terms are governed by New Zealand law. Questions, problems, or anything that doesn't look right: jackpike@partdrop.co.nz.

A generation costs from 25 tokens depending on the model you choose; printing and shipping are quoted and paid separately when you approve a design.
